icon reforestation software is now available
March 23, 2007
I just finished writing the software for my icon reforestation project. It’s a little program that plants icon seeds through out your computer. All the seeds are based on pioneer species plants, the first generation of plants that will inhabit an inhospitable area such as a glacial retreat, a toxic spill, or in this case, your computer.

seed weapons in development
March 06, 2007
I’ve begun working on a my new project to develop seed weapons. AK47โs and grenades are powerful images and symbols; symbols of revolt, but also symbols of violence and death. I’m planning on developing a whole series of weapons that will aggressively disperse seeds, using tactics similar to the original uses of such weapons. you can see the details of my project here.

open city
March 04, 2007
i just went to a bad-ass show at Eyebeam showcasing some of the best urban public works going on in the east coast, called open city. This exhibit even included a crazy paint/ fire extinguisher explosions all over the front and down the drains of Eyebeam. It’s the work of the long-time tagger, KR. Object Orange also makes an appearance, along with borf, and other artists.
It’s curated by evan roth and james powderly of graffiti research labs.

armory?
February 26, 2007
I went to the armory show with my friend rob. I’m not sure if any of you have ever been to a ski show, or a boat show, but this was an art “show”. I’ve never really felt that walking in a gallery was akin to walking in to jewelry store, where people immediately get sized up and in my case get dismissed as a non customer. It’s an unspoken sense of disdain from the merchant, or in this case the art dealer. At the armory, there was an overwhelming sense that people were their to “sell”.
Well, i wasn’t there to buy, even if i had the money. There was one piece by tracy emin, i believe, that was a kick-ass neon light one-liner with the quote;
“people like you, you should sleep with people like me”
